Don’t have a virtual address?
Once the GSTIN is live, add the fulfilment centre as an Additional Place of Business on the GST portal. Ensure the APOB shows on your registration before you dispatch.
myHQ provides a Hyderabad virtual office address that serves as your Telangana Principal Place of Business (PPOB) for GST. With it you register a Telangana GSTIN (state code 36) and add Amazon’s HYD8 and HYD3 fulfilment centres at Shamshabad as an Additional Place of Business (APOB), which Amazon requires before you store FBA inventory in the state.
A Virtual Place of Business (VPOB) is a rented commercial address, with a rent agreement and the owner’s consent behind it, declared on a GST registration in a state where you run no office. Amazon FBA sellers in Telangana need one because GST registration is state-wise, and cartons received at HYD8 or HYD3 in Shamshabad make Telangana a state from which you supply goods, no matter where the business is headquartered.
The portal has no field called VPOB; it works with PPOB and APOB, and which document goes into which tab follows from the distinction.
| Term | Full form and what it means for an FBA seller in Telangana | Where it appears on the GST portal |
|---|---|---|
| PPOB | Principal Place of Business: the lead address of the Telangana registration and the one printed on the certificate; the rented Hyderabad address takes this role | REG-01, Part B, “Principal Place of Business” tab |
| APOB | Additional Place of Business: any other Telangana location where your goods sit or your records are kept; HYD8 and HYD3 are entered here, one entry each | REG-01 “Additional Places of Business” tab, or later by Form GST REG-14 (Amendment of Registration Core Fields) |
| VPOB | Virtual Place of Business: the market term for a rented address used as PPOB; proof is the rent agreement, the owner’s NOC and a recent electricity bill | PPOB tab, nature of possession “Rented” |
Three provisions do the work. Under Section 2(85) of the CGST Act, 2017, “place of business” takes in a warehouse, a godown or any other place where a taxable person stores goods. Section 22(1) fixes the duty to register on “the State or Union territory from where he makes a taxable supply”, and Section 25(1) requires a separate application in every such state within 30 days of becoming liable. A Karnataka or Maharashtra GSTIN therefore covers nothing that Amazon ships from Shamshabad. Telangana’s code in the GST state code list is 36, the first two digits of every Telangana GSTIN; Andhra Pradesh, across the state line, is 37, and a seller with stock in both states needs both. How states differ in what they accept for a rented address is in virtual office rules by state.
Could HYD8 be your PPOB instead? No. Amazon Seller Services Private Limited holds the Mamidipally premises, and the NOC it issues to sellers permits storage of goods at the FC and nothing beyond that; the portal expects the PPOB to be premises held under your own agreement or the owner’s consent in your name. A virtual place of business supplies that, and the FC then goes on the registration as an APOB. The national background is in what a VPOB is and when you should register one; the rest of this page is Amazon and Telangana only.
Amazon codes its Indian fulfilment centres with the IATA code of the nearest major airport and a serial, so HYD is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and HYD8 and HYD3 are two Hyderabad fulfilment centres in that series; the serial is usually read as commissioning order, not size. One thing makes Telangana unusual: HYD8 and HYD3 share one address, so the two codes are two APOB entries for one plot. For a Telangana FBA seller the working list is HYD8 and HYD3, each added as an APOB on the Telangana GSTIN with its own Amazon NOC.
HYD8 is Amazon’s FBA fulfilment centre at Shamshabad, Hyderabad, PIN 500108, inside GMR Airport City beside Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, about 30 km south of the city on the NH 44 side. Amazon opened this 4 lakh sq ft building in September 2017 as its biggest warehouse in India at the time. Storing here needs a Telangana GSTIN with HYD8 filed as an APOB.
HYD3 is at the same Shamshabad, Hyderabad 500108 plot as HYD8; seller FC lists often write the pair as one entry, “HYD8_HYD3”. Searches for “HYD3 Amazon warehouse” and “HYD3 Amazon address” describe this site. On the GST portal it is a separate APOB entry from HYD8, with its own Amazon NOC, on the same Telangana GSTIN.
Only the models that put your goods inside a Telangana warehouse call for a Telangana GSTIN; selling to Hyderabad or Warangal customers from stock held in another state does not. Amazon.in offers four fulfilment routes, and Section 22 applies to each as the table shows.
| Model | Who stores, packs and ships | Need a Telangana GSTIN? | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) | Amazon stores at HYD8 or HYD3, packs and delivers | Yes, once you inbound to Shamshabad | Goods at an Amazon FC in Telangana are your place of business under Section 2(85); the FC is filed as APOB |
| Easy Ship | You store and pack at your own premises; Amazon collects and delivers | Only if your godown is in Telangana | Stock stays in your registered state; the ship-from state is where you are registered |
| Self Ship | You store, pack and courier the order yourself | Only if your premises are in Telangana | Same reasoning; Amazon holds nothing |
| Seller Flex | Your own site runs as a virtual FC under Amazon’s systems (invite only) | Only if the Seller Flex site is in Telangana | A warehouse of your own in the state is itself a place of business, filed as PPOB or APOB |
Two cases recur. A Hyderabad pharma or electronics trader already registered in Telangana adds HYD8 and HYD3 as further places of business on the GSTIN it holds, by REG-14, with no new registration. A Bengaluru or Chennai Easy Ship seller who wants Prime tags on Hyderabad orders has to move to FBA and register in Telangana first, because a Karnataka or Tamil Nadu GSTIN does not reach Shamshabad. How the models compare on fees and on control is the subject of when to consider Fulfilment by Amazon.
Yes, for every taxable product: Amazon seller GST registration is a condition of listing, and a taxable listing stays inactive until a GSTIN is on the account. Section 24(ix) of the CGST Act, 2017 removes the turnover threshold for anyone who supplies goods through an e-commerce operator required to collect tax at source under Section 52. Amazon.in is one of those operators and, under Notification 15/2024-Central Tax, has deducted TCS at 0.5% since 10 July 2024; the credit lands in your electronic cash ledger via its GSTR-8.
The relaxation is narrow. Notification 34/2023-Central Tax, in force from 1 October 2023, spares Section 24(ix) for a supplier of goods below the Section 22 threshold who sells in one state only and takes an enrolment number on the portal. A Pochampally weaver selling only to Telangana buyers from a Telangana address could use it. An FBA seller cannot, because stock at HYD8 is sold to Bengaluru and Pune, which is inter-state supply, and because Amazon’s onboarding asks for the GSTIN before a taxable listing exists. Amazon’s own GST FAQ for sellers puts it the other way round: goods shipped out of a state need that state’s GSTIN.
If every product you sell is GST-exempt, books for instance, Amazon takes your PAN in place of a GSTIN; one taxable SKU brings the requirement back. For the general rules on thresholds, forms and fees see GST registration in India.
The Telangana GSTIN is obtained by filing Form GST REG-01 on the GST portal with the Hyderabad virtual office address as the Principal Place of Business; a low-risk applicant who authenticates with Aadhaar has it in 3 working days, and a flagged applicant first attends a GST Suvidha Kendra.
Within 72 hours of KYC, myHQ issues the rent agreement in your legal name, the owner’s no-objection certificate and the latest electricity bill for the Hyderabad premises, the set Rule 8 and CBIC Instruction 03/2025-GST (17 April 2025) treat as proof of a rented PPOB. What an officer looks for in each is in address proof for GST registration and NOC for GST registration.
On gst.gov.in go to Services, Registration, New Registration: state Telangana, legal name exactly as on PAN, PAN, and the primary authorised signatory’s mobile and email. Two OTPs, each valid 10 minutes, generate a Temporary Reference Number (TRN), which expires with its saved data after 15 days; see what a TRN is.
Return with the TRN and complete Business Details (constitution, district Hyderabad or Rangareddy, date liability arose, reason “supply through e-commerce operator” for a pure FBA seller), Promoters, Authorised Signatory, Principal Place of Business, Additional Places of Business, Goods and Services (top five HSN codes), Aadhaar Authentication and Verification.
Type it as the rent agreement writes it, choose “Rented” as the nature of possession, and upload the rent agreement with the owner’s electricity bill (proof of the lessor’s ownership) and the NOC, PDF or JPEG, 1 MB each. Tick “Have Additional Places of Business” if Amazon’s HYD8 or HYD3 NOC is already downloaded and can go in the same filing.
Take it for the primary signatory and for one promoter. Rule 9A (Notification 18/2025-Central Tax, effective 1 November 2025) gives a low-risk applicant the GSTIN within 3 working days. Telangana came under Rule 8(4A) biometric-based Aadhaar authentication on 5 October 2024; a flagged applicant gets a booking link instead of an OTP link, attends a GST Suvidha Kendra in Hyderabad with original PAN and Aadhaar, and the ARN generates after the visit. Biometric authentication in GST registration lists what to bring.
Sign and submit with DSC (mandatory for companies and LLPs), e-Sign or EVC. The Application Reference Number arrives in about 15 minutes; track it as shown in how to check GST application status with the TRN. Outside Rule 9A, the officer has 7 working days under Rule 9(1), stretching to 30 days when a Rule 25 physical verification of the premises is ordered.
A Form GST REG-03 notice gives 7 working days to reply in Form GST REG-04 with the clarification or the missing document; silence ends in rejection under Form GST REG-05. How to answer is in the GST clarification guide and what to do after a rejection in GST registration rejected.
Form GST REG-06 is under Services, User Services, View/Download Certificates, with the Hyderabad address as PPOB and a 15-digit GSTIN starting 36. The GSTN advisory of 20 November 2025 gives you 30 days from grant to furnish bank account details; see how to add a bank account in the GST portal for the upload and company bank account verification for opening the account.
| REG-01 field | What to enter for a Telangana VPOB |
|---|---|
| State | Telangana |
| Legal name | Exactly as on PAN and on the myHQ rent agreement |
| Reason to obtain registration | “Supply through e-commerce operator” for an FBA seller with no other Telangana turnover; otherwise the turnover-based reason |
| Principal Place of Business | The myHQ Hyderabad address, character for character as on the agreement |
| Nature of possession of premises | Rented |
| Proof of principal place of business | Rent agreement plus the owner’s electricity bill; NOC as the second document |
Telangana’s Commercial Taxes Department has had biometric authentication in its toolkit since October 2024 and orders Rule 25 site visits to a new rented PPOB, before or after grant, when the risk score or the address history calls for it. The visit goes to the myHQ partner space in Hyderabad, which holds your agreement and NOC and receives the officer; the signage add-on puts your business name on the board. GST physical verification with a virtual office describes the visit.
Adding HYD8 or HYD3 as an Additional Place of Business is a core-field amendment to your Telangana GSTIN in Form GST REG-14 with Amazon’s documents attached, and Rule 19 of the CGST Rules gives the officer 15 working days to approve it. You work in Seller Central, then on the GST portal, then back in Seller Central, and both codes can go in a single amendment.
In Seller Central go to Settings, Account Info, Manage under Your Services, then Add FC; on the Register FCs tab select HYD8 (and HYD3 if it is offered) and download the Business Services Agreement and the no-objection certificate for each code. The FBA page itself says the chosen FCs must go on your registration as APOBs.
Log in to the Telangana GSTIN on gst.gov.in and go to Services, Registration, Amendment of Registration Core Fields. On the Additional Places of Business tab enter the number of places to add, two for both codes, and click Add New.
The Shamshabad, Hyderabad address with PIN 500108, copied from the NOC, with the code in the building or premises field so the two entries are told apart. The nature of business activity to tick is “Warehouse/Depot”. For nature of possession select “Consent” and upload Amazon’s NOC with the Business Services Agreement as the second document, or “Others” if the Hyderabad range prefers it; PDF or JPEG up to 1 MB, two documents per place.
Fill in the reason (“addition of place of business, Amazon fulfilment centre”) and the date of change, then file with DSC or EVC. The portal returns an ARN, and Form GST REG-14 counts as filed. Rule 19(1) asks for the amendment within 15 days of the change, so file before the first inbound to Shamshabad.
Rule 19 gives the officer 15 working days, after which the amendment is deemed approved; the approval issues in Form GST REG-15 and the refreshed Form GST REG-06 lists HYD8 and HYD3 under additional places of business. A REG-03 at this stage nearly always means two entries with an identical address string and nothing to distinguish them.
Go to Settings, Tax Settings, Manage GST Details, Add GST Number, enter the Telangana GSTIN and upload the REG-06 PDF. Verification against the GST network on Amazon’s side runs about 3 business days. Set the Hyderabad address as the default ship-from address for that GSTIN; the ship-from state and the GSTIN state must match.
Back in the FBA registration workflow, upload the amended REG-06 showing HYD8 and HYD3 as APOBs. Once Amazon enables the FCs for your account, Send to Amazon accepts a shipment plan to Shamshabad from the Telangana ship-from address.
If Amazon’s NOC is already in hand, put the FC on the Additional Places of Business tab of REG-01 and the certificate issues with it listed. How to add an additional place of business in GST gives the generic procedure, how to register an e-commerce FC as APOB the marketplace version, and how to change GST address the process for moving the PPOB.
The file comes from three parties: myHQ for the address, you for the entity, Amazon for the FC. The portal takes PDF or JPEG only, capped at 1 MB a file.
| From myHQ (PPOB) | From you (entity) | From Amazon (APOB) |
|---|---|---|
| Rent agreement for the Hyderabad address in your legal name, stamped as Telangana requires | PAN of the business (or proprietor) | Business Services Agreement for HYD8 (and HYD3) |
| No-objection certificate from the property owner permitting GST registration at the address | Aadhaar of the primary authorised signatory and one promoter, for OTP or biometric authentication | No-objection certificate for each code, downloaded from the Register FCs tab |
| Latest electricity bill for the premises, under two months old, as the owner’s ownership proof | Certificate of incorporation, LLP agreement or partnership deed; board resolution or authorisation letter for the signatory | FC address string exactly as it appears in the NOC, with PIN 500108 and the code |
| Passport-size photograph of the signatory and promoters (100 KB each) | Amended REG-06 showing HYD8 and HYD3, uploaded back into the FBA registration workflow | |
| Cancelled cheque or bank statement, furnished within 30 days of grant | ||
| DSC for a company or LLP | ||
| Original PAN and Aadhaar carried to the GST Suvidha Kendra if a biometric slot is booked |
Proprietors sign in their own name and can leave out the board resolution; the turnover thresholds for sole traders are covered in GST for freelancers. Whether the property owner’s NOC or a myHQ-issued one is the right document is answered in owner NOC vs virtual office NOC, and consent letter for GST registration gives wording that Hyderabad officers accept.
From ordering the address to a live inbound at Shamshabad, allow three to five weeks with Aadhaar authentication and a clean file, and up to eight weeks if a GST Suvidha Kendra slot, a site visit or a query is added.
| Stage | Time | Governing provision |
|---|---|---|
| myHQ documents (rent agreement, NOC, electricity bill) | Within 72 hours of KYC | myHQ service standard; Tatkal add-on for faster turnaround |
| REG-01 filed to GSTIN granted | 3 working days (low-risk, Aadhaar-authenticated); 7 working days otherwise; up to 30 days with physical verification | Rule 9A (Notification 18/2025-CT, 1 November 2025); Rule 9(1); Rule 25 |
| GST Suvidha Kendra biometric slot, if flagged | Days, depending on GSK availability in Hyderabad | Rule 8(4A); GSTN advisory live for Telangana from 5 October 2024 |
| Reply to a REG-03 query | 7 working days from the notice | Rule 9(2), Form GST REG-04 |
| APOB amendment (REG-14) to amended REG-06 | Up to 15 working days; deemed approved after that | Rule 19(2) and (3) |
| Amazon verification of the Telangana GSTIN | About 3 business days | Seller Central Tax Settings |
| Realistic total | Three to five weeks; up to eight with a GSK slot, a site visit and a query |
| Cost item | Amount |
|---|---|
| GST registration fee on gst.gov.in | Nil |
| APOB amendment fee | Nil |
| VPOB (virtual office) in one state | Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000 a year per state, depending on city and plan |
| Physical office in Hyderabad, for comparison | Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh a year |
| Ten-state FBA footprint | Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh a year on VPOBs against Rs 20 lakh to Rs 50 lakh on offices |
| CA fees for REG-01 and REG-14 | Vary; bundled in myHQ’s CA assistance add-on |
Most Telangana rejections trace to documents that disagree with each other, a biometric slot that was skipped, or two APOB entries the officer cannot tell apart; most Amazon-side blocks trace to a GSTIN whose certificate does not yet show the FC. Eight patterns explain almost every rejection, and each has a fix.
A registration cancelled over the address can be revived, as GST registration cancelled due to address issues explains. Storing goods at an FC that is not on your certificate breaches Rule 19(1); the exposure is the general penalty under Section 125 of the CGST Act, up to Rs 25,000 plus the same again under the Telangana GST Act, 2017, with Section 126 requiring restraint for minor, rectifiable breaches.
myHQ provides the Hyderabad PPOB and the paperwork that the Telangana application and the HYD8 and HYD3 APOB filings both depend on: rent agreement, owner’s NOC and electricity bill, issued in your legal name within 72 hours of KYC. The network covers 25 or more cities and 10,000 or more clients, and GST, ROC and bank filings on those documents carry a 100% acceptance guarantee with a 30-day money-back.
Add-ons match the FBA path: APOB support for the two-code Amazon amendment, CA assistance for REG-01 and REG-14, Tatkal when a Great Indian Festival inbound is close, and signage for the Hyderabad verification visit.
