Yelahanka is part of the Bangalore Urban District. It lies in one of the BBMP zones. It is the northernmost and oldest portion of the modern Municipal Bengaluru city. Yelahanka has grown significantly with fast-growing residential and commercial activity, which attracts real estate development. The three main ones are D'Mart in Yelahanka New Town, RMZ Galleria Mall, and Yelahanka Central. There are many lakes in Yelahanka. One such famous one is Puttenahalli Lake.

Yelahanka is expected to become North Bengaluru's premier real estate market due to its easy access to Kempegowda International Airport and large undeveloped regions.
