Perungudi is located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located roughly 10 km south of Adyar. Because of its proximity to Old Mahabalipuram Road, it's an ideal site for coworking and office spaces. It is located in the center of an information technology (IT) estate on the Old Mahabalipuram IT Expressway.

Perungudi holds a prime location as it is situated on the East Coast Road (ECR Highway), parallel to Kottivakkam and Palavakkam, and between Taramani and Thoraipakkam. It is well connected through roadways and suburban railways. The "Metropolitan Transport Corporation" (abbreviated "MTC") connects Perungudi with Saidapet, Adayar, and Tiruvanmiyur, among other transport hubs. The bus numbers 19A, 102, and 19B are among them that connect Tambaram, Kannagi Nagar, Kelambakkam, Royapettah, Marina, Koyambedu, and Velachery.

Following the boom in the Indian IT industry, Putergudi transformed from an isolated area to a bustling business and residential hub. IT companies such as Amazon, Thanthi TV, and many more are present here. This is the location of the World Trade Center Chennai. It has many recreational spots like cafes, restaurants, etc. The most famous is the Perungudi lake.

It is a vibrant place and has lots of potential to grow as a commercial center.
