About Velachery

One of Chennai's suburban neighborhoods is Velachery. Given that it borders major economic hubs, namely Guindy in the north, Taramani in the east, Perungudi in the south-east, Madiipakkam in the south and south-west, and Adambakkam in the west and north-west encircle Velachery, it has high commercial importance.

Velachery has excellent bus and train connections to the rest of the city, provided by MTC(Metropolitan Transport Corporation). The main bus stop here is called Vijayanagar Bus Terminus. Velachery Main Road, Taramani Link Road, and Velachery Bypass Road are the three serving roads. Indian Railways operates the Velachery MRTS Railway Station, which provides daily EMU services to the area.

Velachery is now home to many IT/ITES enterprises. Some notable ones are AllSec Technologies, ZOHO Corp., Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Sutherland Global Services, TeleData, Fyndus, and Laptopstore. Due to its proximity to Chennai's central business districts and the rise of further IT parks along the Old Mahabalipuram Road, Velachery is a preferred place for working-class and IT professionals to settle. Since significant residential projects developed, the area has emerged as a residential hub as well.
